About Nathan

Nathan Ip has dedicated his career to building stronger communities through economic development, public education, and mental health advocacy. As Shadow Minister for Technology and Innovation, Nathan is fighting to create the jobs of tomorrow and ensure Alberta's economy works for everyone.

First elected in 2023, Nathan defeated UCP Deputy Premier Kaycee Madu to flip Edmonton-South West and help deliver a sweep across Edmonton. Before entering the Legislature, Nathan served three terms as an Edmonton Public Schools trustee, including as Vice-Chair, where he championed youth mental health and advocated for new schools in southwest Edmonton.

Nathan led Headstrong Alberta, Canada's first national youth mental health leadership program, as Alberta Program Manager for the Mental Health Commission of Canada. He has also been a strong voice for Edmonton's Chinatown, supporting the renewal of local economic development, and speaking out against anti-Asian racism during the pandemic.

As your MLA, Nathan is holding the UCP government accountable on jobs, innovation, and economic growth while fighting for the South Edmonton Hospital and more schools in our growing community.

Nathan Ip is ready. Alberta's New Democrats are ready.
